I've raised £1000 to support 200 children who have never had the opportunity of an eye test and train teachers and monks to hold eye tests in their community.

Children in this rural community do not receive free eye tests during anytime in their school life.
From recent successful eye camps run in every five hundred people fourteen people have been identified with cataracts with several now operated on with a small majority diagnosed blind. Another eye camp for up to 150 people is occuring August for people over the age of 15.
Educating the children with the impact of diet, diabetes, sunlight and eye health will protect many children for the future.
Short term aims. An eye camp for children up to 15 years of age to be put into action for the 200 children who live in this community September 2017.
Medium term aims: The Beacon Centre (a registered charity for the visually impaired in the UK) are kindly supporting the Senehasa Foundation (a registered charity in Sri Lanka run by Buddhist monks) with relevant eye charts, colour guidance and training. To carry this project out successfully, we require your support to be able to offer the prescriptions required for children who are identified for vision spectacles.
For every £5 donated this gives a prescription with spectacles to one child. This worthy project will help protect generations for the future, support community empowerment and make a positive impact on individuals and families with early diagnosis of vision problems.
For those who have had eye problems as a child they will know the difference early intervention can make on their life and the problems it may have led to if not diagnosed and treated.
Help us to make that difference, your kindness does make a difference to so many.
