Story
One night I walked out of a restaurant after a lovely meal to the sight of a man curled up in the cold under a thin blanket. I got him a Tesco meal deal as it was the only place open and was met with gratitude, kindness and many thank you's.
It was then I decided I would no longer keep ignoring the issue of people sleeping and living on the streets. I no longer want to walk past and find other reasons that prevent me from talking to them or buying them food. I am setting up this page to raise money for care packages for the people living on the streets of Chichester which I aim to distribute myself and with some others.
I aim to include:
Blanket
Socks
Hat
Gloves
Scarf
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Tissues
Wipes
Chapstick
Soap
Plasters
Comb
Dried fruit
Cereal bars
Crisps
Sandwiches
Bottled water
A hot drink
This is an example of possible items but this depends on how much money is raised and how much can be bought.
I am also looking for donations of new items you may have sitting around your house such as anything off this list or secondhand books you no longer want.
I also aim to get my university and friends involved to get further donations and to help distribute the packages hopefully by the end of January.
I think it's time we use our own privilege to help others in need.
