Story

Race The Sun 2025 - On Saturday 17th May my husband Daniel and 9 family, friends and colleagues, to be known as Dexter's Support Crew, will be running the formidable 100 mile coastal path of the Isle of Man. The aim of the challenge is to cover a variety of terrains, including sandy beaches, beautiful glens, chasms and exposed cliff tops leaving Peel as the sun rises at 0511hrs and returning before the sun sets at 2120hrs. This year we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for two incredibly worthwhile causes; The Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital Charity and Guide Dogs UK. As some of you may be aware, in December last year my Dad suffered a heart attack and was transferred off-Island to the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital for treatment, ultimately resulting in a double heart bypass in January. As a family, we will always be extremely grateful for the care and treatment he received during his three week stay in Liverpool. The medics, nursing staff and ancillary teams at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital are truly phenomenal and as a direct result of their expertise and dedication Dad is now well on the road to recovery. Our elder daughter Katie has, for several years, been involved in fundraising for Guide Dogs UK and last year raised £2500 to Name a Guide Dog Puppy and we would like to continue to support the wonderful work undertaken by the staff at Guide Dogs. Any donations made to our JustGiving page will be split equally between the two charities and we hope you will be able to encourage Dexter's Support Crew in their endeavours by donating. With thanks for your support. Rebecca
