I've raised £2000 to support a mission to Iquitos in Peru to make a difference to the lives of those living there.

In October, next year I will be travelling to Iquitos in the north east of Peru as part of the project Peru mission. The Peru mission is a charity set up and supported by my diocese dedicated to the relief of need amongst the poorest of Peru. We will be spending 10 days labouring and improving the local school’s facilities. Our aim is to build a new boys toilet block as the current one is open to the elements making it unhygienic, unsafe and providing no modesty for the boys or students/teachers passing by. The sinks attached to the toilet block are also used to wash the dishes of the 700 children of the school. Most deaths in this area of Peru are due to intestinal diseases. We hope to build a washing facility to combat this problem so that dishes can be washed in a clean environment. Also, if we have sufficient funds we hope to rebuild a wall of one of the classrooms which is currently wooden and infested with termites. During the afternoons, we will be spending time in the girl’s orphanage teaching English, sport and organising crafts and activities. Some of the girls in the orphanage have been rescued from trafficking and others have experienced situations no young child should go through, as the supplies are limited in the orphanage we hope to be able to bring some sports and craft equipment over with us. The overall cost of this mission will be £2000, this will pay for building materials but also for me to get over there. Every penny will be hugely appreciated and will make a difference to those who need help most. Any extra money raised will go directly to the mission to benefit others in the area. Thank you for your support
