Story
Following the destruction of the 2015 Earthquake, many families lost their homes in central Nepal. While the support came in from across the globe and much was restored, there were still many families left without shelter, finding refuge in neighbouring villages, or in the houses that withstood the impact of the disaster.
3 Years have passed, and the momentum of support has almost ceased altogether, with still much aid in need.
The Government do not have the resources to provide such help, therefore it's been left as the soul responsibility of the individuals to raise their own money. Further more, they have introduced new building regulations which not only heavily restrict independent building, but increases the expenses needed to build a home far beyond what is achievable by farming families depending on subsistence agriculture to survive. In the developing world of Nepal, such funds would take generations to acquire, if ever at all.
After volunteering on a farm in the small village of Phaskot, Central Nepal, I have been introduced to one of the many families effected by the 2015 Earthquake. I not only speak for myself when I say I have never been so humbled by such a loving and compassionate family. Like many others, I have been touched by their story, and their ever optimistic views of life along with their hope to one day rebuild their family home. The most effective way of giving support would be to help raise enough funds to rebuild a new home, as they are currently living with neighbours further down in the village, earning their keep by working on the farm.
Any financial help is greatly appreciated, and any donations would go a long way. The aim is to raise a total of £1000 to begin this project, which would provide sufficient funds to purchase the materials needed for the foundations of a new home, and construction could finally be underway.
There would be no cost for a workforce, as all the building will be done by the family and by volunteers, meaning every penny would go towards materials for construction.
A huge humble thank you from all of us, and most of all, the Thapa family.
