Weʼve raised £3,320 to help a dear friend’s family in Sierra Leone rebuild their properties after a fallen electrical mast caused a fire that destroyed their homes

Funded on Monday, 16th September 2019

    Story

In May 2019 our friend’s family in Sierra Leone lost their homes and possessions to a fire following an electricity mast falling onto their properties. The families living in this area are now homeless and are having to move into family homes where up to 15 people will be living together with no room for all to sleep.

Whilst it will take thousands to rebuild we feel it would be great to send a contribution to assist the families to begin to rebuild the area.

Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

This is wonderful, thank you everyone. It is a fantastic start to help this amazing family. We are leaving the page open of course as we know a few people are still waiting to donate. We may even be able to send enough money to fund a full build if we carry on with this generosity! Xo

We are so grateful for all the support. We upped the amount when it went into the newspaper in the hope that people’s generosity would continue and it has! We have discovered that the money can go over the amount on these pages which is fantastic because people are being so generous. It would be wonderful if we could get even more than ‘the start’ for them rebuilding and actually fund an entire build! Let’s keep this going - this kindness is so wonderful to hear and see. Laura, Peter and family are so so thankful!

Spoke with Peter and Laura - I understand there's a lot more to be done to properly rebuild and house Peter's mum and family. Here's another contribution in the hopes it can all be finalized quickly!

When we heard that 15 of our friend’s family members had lost their homes in Freetown we felt compelled to offer any help we could and ask others to assist if possible. Of the 15, 7 are children; one of which was only two days old when the fire hit in the Carlton Carew Area.
