Story
In April, Megan is running the London marathon to raise money to create a vegan recipe book in support of Breast Cancer Haven. Turning to a vegan diet helped Jess manage her recovery from breast cancer, and she’d like to use this empowering experience to help others fighting the disease to embrace positive change.
The book will be available for free to patients visiting the charity’s centres across the UK.
We really appreciate your support.

Jess’ story
Whilst undergoing gruelling cancer treatment, it can be a struggle to eat the right foods. After my chemo finished, I was advised by a leading London nutritionist to adopt a plant based diet. I was very sceptical to begin with about whether I wanted to do this, but my approach to the importance of good nutrition has now totally changed.
Forgetting you have cancer, even for 10 minutes while you make a soup, really is wonderful. I want other women to experience this feeling and to also feel satisfied that on the day they go into hospital for chemo, they know that their freezer is full of delicious food that, once the nausea has subsided, they can enjoy with their families.
Knowing that someone who has experienced cancer treatment has created these recipes, is back working full time and enjoying life may give hope to women who are struggling with their diagnosis. Through this project I hope to also instil confidence that there is life after treatment and you can make a positive impact on the world.
Any additional funds remaining after the book is created will be donated to the Haven for other worthwhile projects supporting people with Breast Cancer.
