I've raised £1000 to Help Refugees Reclaim the Sea

On July 20th, I'm taking on my biggest swimming challenge yet: 13,000 meters non-stop. I’m swimming this ridiculous distance to raise the vital funds we need to launch Reclaim the Sea in the West of the UK. In Bristol & Weston-super-Mare, to be specific.
Reclaim the Sea helps refugees & asylum seekers reclaim the sea as a safe & joyful space. Through swimming & surfing lessons, we provide life skills that boost physical health, mental well-being, & a sense of community.
Since 2010, the UK Government has implemented what's known as a Hostile Environment. These policies deliberately make life difficult for refugees & asylum seekers, treating them as less deserving of dignity & humanity than British citizens, & violating basic human rights.
Reclaim the Sea is the perfect antithesis to this; positive, community-led action that offers refugees & asylum seekers a chance to find joy & safety in the sea.
Swimming isn’t just a fun old thing to do; it’s a crucial life skill. It’s great for physical & mental health. For refugees & asylum seekers, learning to swim or overcoming water-based trauma can be truly life-changing.
By donating to my swim, you’ll be directly supporting refugees & asylum seekers in Bristol & Weston-super-Mare.
