Weʼve raised £385 to boost the Rector's Discretionary Fund for helping Havant residents in need

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I'm the Rector of St Faith's in Havant. I have today received an overwhelming response to a simple post on Facebook, which sought to answer the question 'What is the Church doing to help the homeless?'. A number of people who responded have asked how they can support our work - across a wide range of needs. I have therefore set up this quick, simple crowd-funding page to enable folks to donate to the 'Rector's Discretionary Fund' - a fund, held in the St Faith's accounts, established to provide help to those in need (whether as a result of homelessness or other life crisis). Gifts to this fund cannot be gift-aided, because gifts made here are not being made under a registered charity account. (Registering the church with Just Giving will take some time, a lot of paper work and a monthly service fee to Just Giving!). I therefore ask for your trust that any funds donated here will be properly sent on to the Church Accounts. A record of all payments will be kept in our Parish Office. Please note that 5% of your donation will be deducted by Just Giving for their administrative costs. If you are local to Havant, and wish to give directly (by cash or cheque) donations can be made via white envelopes held in the church. (Those donations CAN be gift aided if you are a UK taxpayer who will pay enough tax to cover the gift aid we would claim on your donation). Which ever way you choose to give, thank you for your generosity.

Just a quick note to all supporters of this fund - first to say 'thank you very much!' for your generosity and your love for neighbour. Secondly to let you all know that I will be making the first payment from this fund tonight - I will be giving £100 to 'Help the Homeless in Havant and the Surrounding Areas' - a local group of wonderful, big hearted people, who go out each night with hot food to our homeless friends. I'm confident, therefore, that your gift will go straight to where it is needed. Thank you, once again!
