Story
We are a team of two novice runners from Yorkshire, running our first ever 10k race to raise funds for Yorkshire Aid, part of the Refugees-START group.
Our first race is the Wetherby 10k on 3rd September. One of us will also be running the Kirkstall Abbey 7 (miles) on 17th September and the Bramham Park 10k on 1st October.
In the long-term, we hope to do more races next year and recruit some more members, so please get in touch if you are interested in taking part.

7 years ago3 out of 3 races complete. This Just Giving page turned out to be a non-starter but the project went well otherwise. More info on the facebook page, facebook.com/refugeeaidrunners.

7 years ago1:14:40 in the mixed-surface Kirkstall Abbey 7 (miles) on Sunday. Well organised race but tough conditions in parts due to the earlier rain. (One of the hills took two attempts and a bit of scrambling on all-fours due to the extreme lack of grip.) Pledges (offline) currently totalling around the £350 mark with two down, one to go. Just seen an urgent appeal for bedding in Calais for the coming winter, so not a moment too soon.

7 years agoIntroducing a new side project - Diary of an Autistic Runner. I'll be keeping a publicly available diary of my running experiences, focussing on how well (or poorly) the races I compete in accommodate autistic and otherwise neurodiverse participants. The first two instalments are now available under the notes section of our Facebook page: facebook.com/refugeeaidrunners.

I'm 25 years old and I suffer with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), so tend to see the world in black-and-white. So it is with my view of refugees; whatever excuses the haters make, the suffering of refugees is undeniable, as is our moral responsibility to do all we can to help.
