I've raised £1000 to donate to the two charities we're volunteering with in Greece https://advocatesabroad.org http://www.hopeproject.net

Sofie Elise Quist and Louis Waterman-Evans are heading out to volunteer in Thessaloniki, Greece, in October. Having watched the refugee crisis develop and unfold, and been dismayed by how little our governments seemed to be doing, we would like to get a first-hand experience of what it's really like in Greece, understand the jounreys made by asylum seekers, and contribute our skills in the best way possible.
Sofie will be volunteering with Advocates Abroad, which provides legal support to asylum seekers. She will be helping asylum seekers to make their claims for refugee status during her time there.
Louis will be volunteering with Hope Project, which runs a community space for asylum seekers in the heart of Thessaloniki. He will be teaching English, German, and running workshops at the centre during his time there.
Both of these organisations are entirely sustained by donations, so your money will have an immediate and real impact. All of the funds we raise here will be given directly to the organisations we're volunteering with; our trip is entirely self-funded. We want to start our volunteering out there by handing the respective organisations a big cheque to say "thank you" for their dedication.
To raise awareness of our fundraising, my brother, Torin Waterman-Evans and I are attempting a 'Pure 3 Peaks' challenge. Watch this video to find out more!
