Story

Reggie a 3yr old from newquay is a little ball of energy. Kind, caring. Full of love! With a wicked sense of humour and a smile for miles
Born at 31+6wks weighing just over 4lb. Delivered by emergency C-Section due to a placenta abruption. He spent a month in NICU.
At 8 months he started having seizures. Two more wks of investigation in hospital and his MRI showed he'd suffered a stroke. At birth. A large part of the left side of brain was damaged. This was devastating to hear!
The seizures were controlled with meds. But the damage to his brain has left him with a right side hemiplegia (cerebral palsy)

Reg moves well on his leg with the support of his splint. But does not show such progress in his arm. He has hypersensitivity. He can barely use it for fine motor skills. Resulting in major neglection.
This is wear CIMT comes in. He's had his assessment at the clinic in Manchester & meets all the criteria to be a candidate. An intense therapy programme of which his good arm will be put in a cast. 3hrs a day, 5days a week for 4 weeks specialist paediatric physiotherapists will carry out intense physio. The expected outcome is huge. Building Reg's confidence in his right side. Lowering sensitivity. Helping to remap his brain and build muscle memory.
CIMT is not funded on the NHS. The therapy itself will be in excess of £8,500. Accommodation,Living expenses and travel will be around £3,000/£4,000 We've been offered a programme in September. I'd love to think we'd reach our goal by then. But I'm well aware this is hugely ambitious.

The task ahead is massively daunting. Its going to be extremely tough on Reggie. It's not just 3hrs a day. His arm will be cast for the duration. Reggie is not going to like it and i’m very conscious of the many ups and downs. All whilst being away from home. But will be worth it! It's going to significantly improve his quality of life.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any help or just a page share will be hugely appreciated x
