Story
Hello! My name is Francesca and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Reina's legal fees. She has found a lawyer who will file her application but Home Office and legal fees are incredibly high, she needs help paying for these fees.
Reina is a brown trans woman who came to the UK seeking legal recognition and acceptance in her chosen gender identity. She is a domestic worker, a community organiser, and a fierce advocate for the racialised trans and migrant communities, especially those living and resisting at the intersection of both oppressions like herself. She has and continues to volunteer for organisations that help and support these marginalised communities.
I've known Reina for several years and I am honoured and proud to call her my friend and comrade. For the last two decades, she has been fighting and waiting for the opportunity to gain status in the UK. She finally has that chance this year. The hostile immigration laws put in place by the previous Conservative government have made it too costly and complicated for her to proceed with her application for status. She desperately needs your help in raising these funds so she can live her life to the fullest.
At a time when migrants, trans people, and other minorities are under attack from the far right, the media, and politicians, material solidarity and support are more important than ever.
Can you support her?
