Story

I am a girl.

I am not able to go to school when I am menstruating.

This, sadly is the reality of many young girls attending schools in many poor parts of the world. Zambia Compound of Mazabuka included.

A majority of the households in the compound live on less than £2 a day and as such, there isn't any money to purchase sanitary towels. The young girls instead use torn up cloths ( chitenge ) and tissues ,which do not offer protection and to say the least ,are unhygienic.

To save themselves from embarrassment and being bullied, they would rather skip school for a few days. This has a negative effect on their education.

CMF aims to provide a support structure that will allow the girls to carry on their daily lives more comfortably without affecting their academics.

With your help, CMF will donate reusable/washable sanitary towels and provide a service that will allow for a health care professional from the Ministry of Health (nurse / clinical officer) to provide workshops that offer sanitary hygiene coaching.

In doing so, we will help in building young girls' self awareness, good hygiene practice ,which in turn will build their confidence.

Our target is to raise funds to assist in purchasing sanitary towels, underwear, soap and providing professional health advice for 500+ girls aged between 13-18, on an annual basis as each pack of reusable/washable sanitary pads donated to the young girls will last up to 12 months.

We thank you for your help.

I am a girl, I make life, let me live a normal life too.
