Maari was a fierce and compassionate advocate for LGBTIQ+ rights and survivors of domestic abuse. As a trans woman of colour, Maari poured her heart into campaigning for and creating safe spaces for others who needed it most. Her life’s work in LGBTIQ+ youth, housing, domestic abuse, and her leadership as the CEO of Star Support saved lives, empowered our community, and inspired hope in us all.

But above all else Maari was a devoted granddaughter to her Nana, a daughter, sister, and friend. She cared deeply for everyone, but her love for her family in Manchester was unparalleled. Now, we are coming together to honour her legacy and support her family as they navigate this devastating loss.

Funerals are an opportunity to celebrate life but they also cost so much! We are asking for your support to ensure her family are supported with these costs. Maari gave everything she had to support others. Let’s show the same generosity that Maari showed every day of her life. Together, we can give her the farewell she deserves.
