Story
Let me start by telling you a little bit about Sara....
Sara was an amazing woman! She was outgoing but shy and had utter adoration for her kids and husband. She was very adventurous and loved taking her kids.out to the beach and walks. She was a very strong person, such a fighter and after you've read this story, you'll no doubt agree.
Sara was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L) in February 2019. Sara then needed a stem cell transplant, which she was able to have in September 2019, from a matching donor of a 21 year old man in the Netherlands. She got through the most important 100 days after transplant, which means the transplant was a huge success. This meant that Sara had now been in hospital for a total of 9 months.
Unfortunately, one of the drugs that Sara took to help with the transplant, caused her cholesterol to go through the roof, which led to Pancreatitis in January 2020. This meant Sara was admitted to hospital once again at the end of January, only this time to the ICU department at The Royal Liverpool Hospital. Sara then had further complications, which led to Sara being induced into a Coma. Sara slowly started to get better and showed signs of her amazing personality coming back. She was slowly being weened off the Ventilator and spent longer and longer on a voice box to give he voice the workout it needed. She ended up not being on ventilation, which was such an amazing achievement. At this stage her body started fighting numerous infections, including sepsis, which was putting more strain on her breathing. This meant she had to be put back on ventilation and started get poorly again, very quickly.
Sara sadly passed away on 11th April 2020 at 15:40. Sara was survived by her husband, 3 children, 2 step children, 4 grand children, siblings and parents.
