As an educator, I am always looking for additional ways to deepen the learning of the students that I work with at the university and my affiliated CBOs. Things that will make them even more academically competitive, strengthen their cultural and social capital, guide them to become more in tuned and engaged citizens, and make them better professionals. They regularly participate in community service opportunities, internships and volunteer events. And I can proudly boast that from the summer of 2016 until now they have collectively completed more than 2500 hours of volunteer service within greater Buffalo and surrounding regions!!! Volunteer hours! How awesome is that!?!

We are very focused on our communities here in the WNY region, but I am looking to expand our reach. Many students that I work with are aiming toward college majors and careers in medicine, science, and technology, and even international relations. We are very diligent in finding ways to lend a hand locally, but now my goal is to aid them in extending a hand globally. This is where YOU can make a difference! Although America, specifically the WNY region is diverse, there is a need to go out into other parts of the world to be instrumental in making a positive change on a global spectrum—through “learning abroad” opportunities.

We have an immediate goal to raise approximately $7000.00 to support several high school students from various races, ethnicities and backgrounds from WNY in their efforts to study and teach abroad this summer. The monies raised will be used for supplies for the camp, travel, lodging and meals. With my guidance, the students are currently planning and designing a week’s curriculum to culminate TrinBiz 2017, the Naomi Chin Kit Pre-School’s three-week long summer program in Trinidad/Tobago. These students are able and eager to go and help facilitate this week-long science and geometric camp to some very eager to learn children.
