    Story

Repair Cafe Wales is a community led social enterprise which meets once a month to repair household items free of charge. The main aim of the group is to reduce landfill waste, but we also try to share our skills with the people who bring things in, and help create a stronger sense of community.

There's a slightly longer description of the Repair Cafe below, but the long and short of it is that it's going to need some help to keep going and grow. At the moment, we rely on the volunteer repairers to bring their own tools, which means that if someone can't make it, then we might not have all the tools to get the job done. That's why I'm setting up this Just Giving page, to try and raise some money to pay for useful bits of equipment we always need, refreshments, and also to help us set up new Repair Cafes in different areas of Cardiff.

To aid this, and encourage you all to donate and support this movement, I'm going to be doing some moving of my own and run the Cardiff Half Marathon! So please send a contribution our way, so we can keep fixin' stuff! :)

--- ABOUT THE REPAIR CAFE ----

Repair Cafe Wales meets on the first Saturday of every month. At each event, somewhere between 20 to 50 members of the public bring their damaged or broken household items in for repair. Typical items include electrical goods (speakers, hair dryers, grass trimmers, etc), computers, ornaments, clothes, and upholstery. The repair volunteers then fix (or at least attempt to fix) the items. Sometimes the item owners like to join in and learn what's going on so they can fix it themselves next time if something similar happens.

Repair Cafe Wales has been running since April 2017, and in that time we've managed to conduct hundreds of repairs, which is hundreds of items that haven't gone to landfill!

I hope you think that it's a good enough cause to help fund. Also, if you need anything repaired in the future, then just come and find us! Our Facebook page is here, where we give details about upcoming events: https://www.facebook.com/repaircafewales/

    Thank you! :)
