We’re raising money to invest towards Black-led organisations and individuals to redress the impact of systemic racism. Invest in the work and visions of our black communities by contributing to our Resourcing Racial Justice fund. http://www.resourcingracialjustice.org/
We’re a group of campaigners, organisers and activists of colour who are launching this fund in response to systemic racism, particularly the disproportionate impact that police violence and the ongoing pandemic has had on our black communities.
Resourcing Racial Justice (RRJ) aims to move financial resources towards organisations, grassroots groups and community groups that have been working for racial justice, who are led by and for people of colour (POC which includes other terms such as BAME, BIPOC, racialised people and people of African, Asian and Latin American Descent.)
We recognise that the death of George Floyd has mobilised thousands of people to take action; many are responding by investing in this crowdfunder. As such, we are committing all resources raised here to go directly to our black communities, and Black-led organisations in the UK.
Resourcing Racial Justice is responding to the ongoing crisis of racial injustice.Through every crisis, be it COVID-19 or the climate emergency, people of colour are disproportionately affected because they are already at the blunt end of structural inequality. Structural inequality is still deeply embedded within our society, and this shows up in who can access resources from philanthropic bodies. This is no surprise, when we learn that 99% of leadership in that sector is white. That’s why we’ve created this fund - to be able to direct immediate support to those who are most impacted.
With your help we can start to repair communities by redistributing resources and power through an economic democracy strategy. Your support will contribute to addressing a history of structural inequality that is driven by the imbalance of wealth and power globally.
We've been put in the position of having to apply for funding to be able to deliver strategies that will liberate us, from the very bodies that are maintaining our oppression - Esther Mamadou - European Network of People of African Descent
What we’re looking to fund with the money raised from this crowdfunding page:
Projects that meet the immediate needs of crisis – be it Covid-19 or otherwise – for Black communities.
Ideas that present transformational visions and radical alternatives to our existing systems of operation, that will support Black people to build their power, address wealth inequality and create their own solutions for change at a systemic level.
Supporting ‘Ecosystem builders’ – visionaries that exist between the mainstream and the margins who are working to mobilise connections and resources for the benefit of their communities. This could include: Lived Experience Leaders –Black leaders; activists; community leaders; innovators; change-makers working on racial justice
Those with an international perspective, seeking to amplify and build relationships with communities in the global south in order to achieve global change.
We welcome projects connected to faith and spirituality.
