Story

Reza Zorieh was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer with liver metastasis on 14th of June 2019, just a few days after coming back from his honeymoon. He is 32 years old.

Reza was offered a clinical trial treatment at St Thomas Guy’s Hospital which would directly kill the cancer cells and give him 70% chance of living. After having waited anxiously for two weeks for the treatment to start he was contacted by the hospital and told only one week before the treatment should’ve started that he could no longer have the treatment on the NHS as the maximum number of people for this trial had already been reached and the drug was suspended on the NHS. The only option given was for him to go to Germany and have the clinical trial done privately, but the medicine alone would’ve cost £20k per treatment and he was estimated to need anything between 3-6 treatments. Of course other expenses such as the hospital fees and accommodation and living costs were on top of this. Sadly despite exploring all avenues this was not something the family could afford for Reza and therefore the family have been forced to have the only other option which is FolFox chemotherapy.

The chemotherapy that has been selected for Reza is one where they will use a combination of drugs to treat the cancer. Regrettably the NHS will not cover one of the vital targeting drugs (Bevacizumab) and so Reza has been told that he will have to pay for this himself. It has been estimated by doctors at Royal Marsden hospital that the fee for this drug will cost over £15k per cycle (number of cycles required unknown).

For this reason we are looking to raise money to help save Reza’s life as the family is not fortunate enough to bear the expense of the cancer treatment. No one deserves to go through this specially when the treatment is available out there!

Thank you for taking the time to read Reza’s story. Please donate generously and share with friends and family.

Every donation is appreciated, and will go directly towards helping him recover and live a fulfilling life.

Thank you in anticipation.

Reza’s family and friends.
