Story

The Preston-based Rwanda Group Trust (RGT) has been raising funds for education and health projects, and to combat severe hunger and poverty in Rwanda, for over 30 years. In total over £1.5 million has been raised, much of it through the charity's shop in the centre of Preston. Sadly, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the shop has had to close, cutting off a vital source of funds for the people of Rwanda.

The coronavirus has also hit Rwanda: we recently received correspondence from one of our partners in Rwanda, Sister Philomene, saying: “In Rwanda the virus is really serious, the government is doing its best to take the measures to fight against the spread of this coronavirus. But the poorest risk dying of hunger."

In view of this desperate need, the Rwanda Group Trust intends to continue raising funds through one-off fund raising and sponsored events, personal donations etc, the entirety of which will continue to be sent to our parish contacts in Rwanda.

The first of these events is a sponsored walk to complete the circuit of the Preston Guild Wheel (21 miles) on 24th August. If anyone would like to sponsor me by a one-off donation please use this webpage. If you are interested in regular giving to the RGT, I can be contacted on 07864 990941 or by email: Rwandagrouptrust.org@gmail.com

Our bank details, Trust address and other details can be found on www.Rwandagrouptrust.blogspot.com .

Thank you again for your support over the years.
