Please please help us raise money for a defibrillator to be fitted in our local community on Blackwood Showfield

On 2nd January 2019 our world was turned upside down when our dad, 65, had a sudden heart attack at home. Despite me performing CPR and the efforts of the first responders, paramedics and air ambulance team, he sadly passed away.

In his memory, we asked for all donations at the funeral to be put towards a defibrillator for Blackwood Bowls Club. Dad was an integral part of Blackwood, Sirhowy Valley, Monmouthshire and Welsh Bowls. From fixture secretary to county president. He was very well known and respected; his funeral showed this.

Blackwood bowls club have recently had the defibrillator fitted and also had training on how to use it. This training session was attended by many members.

My sister Bethan and myself have decided to raise money for a defibrillator to be fitted on Blackwood Showfield, in our local community. The field is used by a huge range of sports clubs, walkers, runners, schools and hosts many events. It is also a place where families visit and children play. A defibrillator could potentially save a life.

On the 21st September 2019 we are planning a run/ walk around Blackwood Showfield where we will be joined by family and friends. So if you are free, save the date, dust off your trainers and get in touch with us. Please feel free to contact me or Bethan if you would like to get involved.
