Story
Rhiannon was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer in August 2018. Soon after it was confirmed that the disease was incurable. During the next 7 months Rhi has been an inspiration in every respect. The diagnosis came only weeks after Matt and Rhi had their second daughter Harriet, who was born weighing only 1lb and 3 months premature. Despite her illness Rhi has been the great mother she has always been to Holly (3) and Harriet, who is growing up strong and healthy, despite her early start to life. Due to Rhi’s commitment as a mum, Holly is growing into a loveable, kind little girl with her mums sharp wit!
Rhi passed away peacefully on 9th Feb 19, but to the end she kept her sense of humour and positive outlook on life. Throughout she was always ready to comfort those around her, before thinking of herself, and this was testament to how she lived her life.
Rhiannon is survived by her husband Matt, her parents, Pam and Nick and sister, Louise. Most important to Rhi though are her daughters, Holly and Harriet, who will be surrounded by love and will grow up hearing from everyone who knew their mum, what a kind and loving person she was!
The money raised in memory of Rhi will be split between 4 charities, which have given invaluable help to the family during such a tough time:
Macmillan Cancer Support- Rachel, the Macmillan nurse was always there to listen and a constant source of guidance. Donations will ensure this care can continue into the future.
Southampton Neonatal Unit- After Harriet was born prematurely, the care provided by this unit was second to none, and enabled Harriet to grow into a strong and healthy baby.
Jane Scarth House- This small charity in Romsey has provided support in many forms to both Matt and Rhiannon throughout the treatment.
Countess Mountbatten Hospice- Care that is second to none at a difficult time for all involved.
This page will stay open long-term so that people can donate whenever suits them. This will also allow people to do their own fundraising events if they wish, Matt will be doing a charity cycle later in the year, more details on how to support that will follow.
