Story

Firstly many thanks for taking the time to donate, no matter how small.

A little background on the reason for this page, a couple of weeks ago my very fit and active ex colleague and father in law of 61 years young was taken to hospital with a sore leg, after 9 hours of surgery the doctors were unable to clear a blood clot in his lower left left resulting in the only option left, which was to amputate from just below the knee. This was taken in his stride and already he is fighting to get out and about and active again, which can only be achieved with a little help. He served 38 years with the Royal Engineers, in the British Army, serving in multiple war zones. He received the Queens commendation for bravery for his role in the rescue operations during the August 7th 1998 bombing of the US Embassy in Nairobi.

We are raising funds to assist the building of a pontoon on his campsite in Sweden, which is a must as Rhyl spends most of the summer days out and about on the river. Any money raised will also help with the funding towards the provision of facilities for the rehabilitation of military amputees.

Myself, Andrew Perry, Daniel Pryke and Matthew Sanders will be cycling on tandem bikes from Cheltenham-Poole-Omar beach landings-Sword beach landing-La harve and finally Dieppe, totalling 400 miles paying our respects on the 74th anniversary of The D-day landings on the 6th June 2018.
