Story

Ribchester Museum Trust is an established local charity that has for many years been responsible for caring for and displaying the important Roman heritage held at Ribchester Roman Museum. The Museum was opened in 1914 and contains ceramics, and stone, metal and leather work as well as coins, jewellery and other civilian and military artefacts. The Museum welcomes thousands of visitors a year, including daily school groups, and all its activities are run and operated by one member of staff and a team of dedicated volunteers.

Because the Museum receives no external funding The Trust is trying to raise money to enable the purchase of equipment vital to the preservation of its collections. This equipment includes remote monitors and dehumidifiers that will keep the environment in the Museum galleries and stores at optimum levels so that future generations will be able to use and enjoy these wonderful objects.

Please help us to ensure the long term preservation of this important archaeological material from this wonderful and ancient site by supporting our project. We would be most grateful.
