I've raised £3000 to fund the fireworks show for the enjoyment of the residents of Eynsford, Farningham and Lullingstone and to give money to the local community

Please dig deep and let's create a spectacle in recognition of Guido Fawkes...
The genesis of the Eynsford Village Fireworks show has its roots as deep as 1978, then a domestic garden party for a few local friends gathering in close proximity - we could do that then! John S, a mere toddler at the time, would light matches and try to set fire to things. Then in 1986 the then Rector of EFL Dennis Sweetman (1971-1988) entered the 5 Bells (not in itself an unusual event) and engaged the worthy citizens within with an account of the peculiar penury in which he found himself, and more importantly, the St Martin’s church spire. As the ale descended, the volume rose, and as the impending disaster became ever more hideous in its conjuration, the determination of those within earshot grew ever firmer until………..A Decision was made! A public firework show would be put on with a charge to attend, the fireworks blazing forth from Eynsford Castle and the public beholding the affair in Furlongs Farm field after the consumption of a respectable amount of Beer, Mulled Wine, and Burgers…. just as it is now – or would have been.
The Fireworks organisers, mindful of the precepts of Winston Churchill, are unwilling to surrender to a mere plague, and are determined to run the 2020 Village Fireworks during the pandemic but without a congregation - for it is important that government guidelines are followed with regard to gatherings.
You are invited to experience the show from wherever you are with a view of the sky, high into which the specially selected fireworks will be propelled for your delight. Employ the lounger for ultimate comfort. Add your own music. Open the sherry, and enjoy some M&S canapes, just as you always wanted to, really.
Of course, we haven’t penned 3 paragraphs without a small ask…….that you help make this happen:
The show is organized and run entirely by volunteers and is the primary intention of the organisers that there is a fantastic display which incidentally makes money for local good causes rather than the other way round. Surplus monies will be dispersed with the full listing in the Trident and the Massive after the event. We ask that you make a donation of whatever you can. We will list on the Trident and on the Massive (opt-out of course is an option) those giving £25 or more: there is no upper limit!
