Story

Hi everyone,

This page is dedicated to my dad Richard, who many of you may know as Goody, a hard-working plumber, family man and long-life Blades fan (don’t let that put you off). My dad is currently facing the scariest & hardest battle yet, and your support would be greatly appreciated, whilst my partner pushes his own limits to highlight just what is taken away from people, like my dad during these times. My commitment is to ensure the safe arrival of my dad's first grandchild, your generosity is used as stated and my dad's comfort remains the ultimate priority.

My name’s Adam, and I’m doing something that, honestly, scares me a little — but it’s nothing compared to the fight my father-in-law Richard is facing.

Richard is a husband, a father, and a mate to many of us. He’s facing a life-limiting diagnosis and although the time remaining is short, what we do with that time matters. Richard continues to fight with a smirk and a witty comment, showing incredible strength and hope, it reminds us all of what real courage looks like.

We’re raising money for treatments, comfort, and peace of mind — to make the time Richard has as full, supported, and as dignified as possible.

To honour Richard’s fight, I’m pushing my limits with a series of escalating endurance challenges. Each one reflects the pain, pressure, and persistence that cancer demands:

Burpees for Days – 10,000 Burpees in 7 Days

Represents: The relentlessness of daily treatment — one painful rep after another.

The Final 100 – 100 Reps of 10 Brutal Exercises

Represents: The overwhelming mental and physical load cancer patients carry.

The Night Watch – 72 Hours, No Sleep

Represents: The sleepless nights, the fear, and the constant worry of the unknown.

Mountain Quadrathlon – Yorkshire’s 4 Peaks in 1 Day

Represents: The steep climbs and tough descents of navigating a complex diagnosis.

Iron Son – Self-Supported Ironman Weekend

Represents: The endurance it takes to hold on, even when you’re on your own.

24-Hour Weighted Sled Drag

Represents: The physical and emotional weight Richard and his family carry every day.

Leeds–Liverpool Canal Run – 127 Miles in 48 Hours

Represents: The long road ahead — painful, exhausting, but full of purpose.

Now look, I’m going to be doing this whole thing in Sheffield United colours — and as a Burnley fan, that might just be the most painful part of all! But if Richard can fight this with everything he’s got, the least I can do is wear a bit of red and white without crying.

So please — donate if you can. Share if you care. Cheer us on or simply watch updates and funny videos of my challenges, and help us show that, no matter how heavy the road gets, Richard isn’t walking it alone.

Thank you.

Let’s make every mile matter.
