Story

My name is Richard, I am 62. In July 2015, I was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. A GLIOBLASTOMA. I was given between 12/15 months to live. As you can imagine this diagnosis was totally unexpected and absolutely devastating . But with the support of family, friends and work colleagues, I have learned to live with this life changing condition. I can no longer work or drive. This has had a big impact on mine and my family's lives. On a brighter note, I enjoy life and am busier than ever before. I still manage to go sailing, walking and have started reading again. My confidence is returning and I am now much happier to travel on my own. I will not let this diagnosis rule my life and intend to get as much out of life as I can.

This April 25/4 - 2/5, I am doing the Hadrians Wall walk, all 84 miles of it!! over 8 days. I am doing the walk with 3 others, (The Three Tumours) all of whom have the same tumour as me, but have all survived 5+ years. I am just starting out on my journey, being a novice at only 2 1/2 years since diagnosis. Our ages range from the youngest being 25 to me the eldest at 62. The motto I am living by, comes from my good friend Ian, one of the three tumours ' DON'T COUNT THE DAYS, MAKE THE DAYS COUNT. '

The money raised will go into finding a cure for brain tumours. Brain tumours can affect anyone from babies upwards, there is no discrimination. Brain tumour research is the least funded of all types of cancer research. Less than 2% of the 500 million raised goes to brain tumours. We need a CURE NOW. Please give what you can, every penny counts.

Any money raised will be donated to the Three Tumours, then this money will be divided between, various brain tumour research organisations.

Thanks for reading

Richard.
