I've raised £5000 to build a wet room and make other home improvement’s to create wheelchair access for Richard Deadman

Richard was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in November 2020. After an operation and regular chemotherapy, he was well enough to have a year off of treatment. In November 2022, he was told that he would need to have some more chemo to hopefully prevent the cancer spreading, which he started. While having treatment, he developed a pain in his left leg which he later went on to find out was caused by blood clots. To cut a very long and complicated story short, he was in and out of hospital over 2 months and lots of options were spoken about. The blood clots were causing his foot to die and very rapidly the choices were taken out of his hands. On 14th February 2023, following a very scary few days and after contracting sepsis, it was decided that the only option left was to remove his lower left leg. After some more time in hospital, he recovered well and is now home and having to adapt to life with a wheelchair.
Due to the nature of his condition, he is unable to attempt to use crutches or be fitted for a prosthetic so he is confined to living downstairs for the forseeable future. He is very lucky to have the facitlies to move his bedroom downstairs and the space to create a wet room. The latter obviously comes at a great cost. I’m sure anyone that knows him, would agree that he is not one to moan or feel sorry for himself. He has faced all of these issues (and more that I don’t have time or space to go into) with a smile on his face and a positive mindset. There are a few events coming up that are in aid of this cause to raise money towards these renovations. A lot of people either can’t make the events or have asked for some way to help where they can. This is where this page comes in. Any donations towards this would be so gratefully recieved. The support that has been shown towards not just my Dad, but my Mum, myself and my entire family has been incredible. I want to offer my sincere thanks on behalf of us all ❤️
