Brian and Dave (who has Cerebral Palsy) from 'Just Ride Southend' will be riding their Tandem Bike in this year's London to Southend Bike ride in aid of one of our club members, Marcus. We'd love to raise as much as we can for him, so please donate and support them on their epic journey of over 50 miles.

Marcus has cerebral palsy and atrioventricular septal heart defect (AVSD) and he is a twin.

When Marcus was 4 months old suffered from a cardiac failure and had to have emergency heart operation, weighing only 5lbs. He recovered well and had a second heart operation when he was 4 years old. Since then he has a major spinal operation called Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR)

SDR is a life changing complex spinal operation, the only surgical procedure that permanently reduces or eliminates stiffness and spasticity in the legs. Marcus had SDR in October 2015 and the results since have already shown massive improvements.

The fundraising aims to provide the specialist physiotherapy for the next 2 years to enable him to one-day walk unaided. Just like his twin brother! We access the specialist physiotherapy centre Kids Physio Works in Old School Road, Marks Tey.

This specialist centre offer Marcus bespoke therapy and high quality child-centred rehabilitation physiotherapy in their state-of-the-art clinic.

We need your help to raise the funds to supply 2 years’worth of additional physiotherapy (working alongside the NHS) which will cost £23,000

Without this therapy Marcus may never walk and the SDR operation will not be as successful.
