Story

I will be running from the bottom to the top of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Britain over the course of 29 days. This will involve averaging about 44 miles everyday. The money you help me raise will be divided 50/50. Half will go toward Hannah's holiday home appeal which is a children's Hospice and the other half of the funds will go to the Fertility Foundation which offers grants to those who are struggling to have a baby. Both these charities are very close to my heart.

Hannah's Holiday Home Appeal is just the most remarkable charity run by an amazing team who I have met personally. Most people know first hand the impact a child being diagnosed with cancer has on the family, both emotionally and financially, more often than not a parent has to give up work to care for their child. The travel to and from hospitals for appointments as well as the cost of sometimes lengthy and unexpected stays in hospital can really take its toll on an already overwhelmed family. And a friend of mine Richard's family went through the same thing. They originally set a charity called Remembering Reece in memory of their beloved son Reece who bravely fought T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia for 21 months. Reece endured high dose chemo, radiotherapy and ultimately a Bone Marrow Transplant before relapsing for the second time in August 2017. Reece passed away 5 weeks before his third birthday. Due to the demands of running a charity they passed their funds over to Hannah's Holiday Home appeal. The charity have 3 park homes which are all truly wonderful and set in great family parks. All homes offer a wonderful variety for the whole family, they all have indoor and outdoor heated pools, play areas, shops, club house, café , arcades and games area with fantastic family entertainment-something to cater for everyone’s needs. Allowing for in many cases the last holiday the family may have with all together. Read the testimonials yourself to see the impact this charity has.

The other charity which is the Fertility Foundation. With the NHS funding cuts showing no signs of stopping it should as no surprise that this area is impacted greatly and going through IVF treatment privately IS NOT CHEAP. So the charity is there to offer financial assistant to individuals and couples who are struggling to afford treatment. I have had several friends and work colleagues and recently a neighbor of mine really struggle with starting a family. And its extremely painful for me knowing that you cannot do anything. So I was looking for a way to support them through this process. The Fertility Foundation is a UK charity which aims to provide support not just interns of a grant but also offers individuals and couples with advice, information and ultimately, practical assistance in accessing fertility treatment.
