Story
Rising Up! Manchester Families is run by parents. It was set up to help us make it easy for families to come together, take action and to be heard. And to make climate action a positive, fun, social part of our lives.
We are part of the huge movement to get people talking about what is happening and to bring about crucial change.
Rising Up! Manchester Families aims to make it possible for families to be active in demanding a safe future for their children and make their voices heard by making protest family friendly and enjoyable.
While polar bears and orangutans are often our first thought when we hear of endangered species, animals much closer to home are also seriously threatened. The 2016 report State of Nature showed that the UK is “among the most nature-depleted countries in the world”.
“There’s a huge amount which we could do differently,” says Rising Up! organiser and mum Rose Arnold. “We’ve got loads of demands for the council, from not mowing and spraying verges and grass, not building on greenbelt and destroying habitat and some exciting ideas for garden projects and bee highways across the city. Let’s make Manchester a good place for actual bees. Our lives depend on turning this around.”
With your support we can continue to put on great events, meetings and protests to raise awareness of the Climate Emergency. Your support will help us put forward policy and proposals for the Greater Manchester area which align with these demands as well as push for change at national level.
We thank you for your support.
