Story
In the early hours of Sunday morning, 21 November, Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre was broken into for the second time in 6 weeks and the two heavy duty safes, which had been drilled into the wall for security, had been expertly removed.
Riverhouse is a community arts centre, which like many other arts venues finds it hard to keep its head above water financially. We have no spare cash for cameras and new security measures and we're pretty sure that after two breaks-in so close together, our insurance premiums will increase with stipulations that we need such measures in place.
We are here for all of the community, offering affordable arts education, free gallery exhibitions exhibiting all genres and offering entertainment from the sublime (exquisite theatre productions) to the ridiculous (amazing comedy, many artistes from off t'tele!).
We are increasingly getting out into the community and raising awareness of our presence as so many locals have not had the pleasure of visiting us!
Please give generously. I know there are many other wicked things going on on the world but where would we be without a bit of live, community entertainment.
Thanks from the Riverhouse Team and all its dedicated volunteers.
