I'm raising £2000 to Honour Pheonix Birkett and to improve safety features in and around the River Tay

Story

At just 17 years old, Phoenix Birkett had his whole life ahead of him. Tragically, after struggling with his mental health in silence, Phoenix was found in the River Tay. No young person should ever feel that this is their only way out, and no family should have to endure such a devastating loss.

Phoenix’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of how important it is to speak openly about mental health and to ensure that support is accessible, visible, and encouraged—especially for young people who may feel unable to reach out.

In his memory, RØAMR Clothing is raising funds to help improve safety features in and around the River Tay and the Tay Road Bridge in Dundee. By enhancing these areas, we hope to create barriers, awareness points, and preventative measures that could save lives and give others the chance to pause, seek help, and find hope.

The funds raised will also go toward supporting Phoenix’s family and close friends as they navigate this incredibly difficult time, helping to ease some of the burdens they are facing.

Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute to making a difference—both in honouring Phoenix’s life and in protecting others in the future.

A little thing from RØAMR Clothing:

“RØAMR Clothing, a youth-driven brand built for people our age—people navigating life, identity, pressure, and everything in between.”

“What’s happened to Phoenix has deeply affected me and so many others across Dundee. Even though I didn’t know him personally, we shared mutual friends, and seeing the love, the heartbreak, and the impact he had on those around him honestly feels like I’ve lost a best mate. No 17-year-old, no one younger, and no one older should ever feel like they have no other choice but to take the worst way out of their struggles.”

“I strongly believe that it’s okay to be in pain. It’s okay to not feel okay. But it’s not okay to feel like you have to go through it alone. Speaking out is one of the hardest things to do, but it can also be the most important.”

“The reason I’m backing and helping push this campaign is because I want to use whatever platform I have—through RØAMR and within the Dundee community—to try and prevent more loss, more heartbreak, and more families going through this kind of pain. Youth today face so many pressures, and we need to start having real conversations, creating safer spaces, and making it easier for people to reach out.”

“If we can help even one person stop, think, and choose to speak instead of suffer in silence, then this matters. Phoenix’s story has to mean something—it has to spark change.”

“Let’s look out for each other. Let’s talk more. Let’s make sure no one feels alone. Let’s come together as a community to remember Phoenix, support his loved ones, and work toward a future where no young person feels alone in their struggles.”

RØAMR Clothing isn’t just accepting donations. Any purchase of hoodie from our new limited collection proudly in honour of Pheonix, ‘Check On Your Mates” will go towards raising these funds. 100% profit from each sale will be donated.
