Story
COVID 19 has affected us all and we have all tried our best to muddle on through lockdowns, restrictions and endless bad news. The one thing that all the scientists agree on is that outside is the safest place to be, with the likelihood of transmission dramatically reduced in an outdoor setting.
RMS Markets put every COVID measure in place at both markets yet LBH&F Council decided to 'temporarily' close both Bishops Park & Ravenscourt Park Farmers Markets on 11th January 2021. On 17th March 2021 the Council notified us that both markets could reopen from 17th April 2021, following the opening of all non-essential shops on 12th April. Today (April 10th) we have been advised that both are markets are now permanently closed with immediate effect.
We have loved bringing fresh produce, delicious delicacies and specialist treats to the residents of Hammersmith & Fulham. We have always welcomed the opportunity to give back to the local community through donations to the Friends of Bishops Park, providing free charity stalls and supporting community initiatives. We are proud of supporting a wealth of small businesses, giving our lovely traders the opportunity to make a living, but most of all our entire team has loved serving the residents of our local community.
We would now like to get the Council to reverse this decision. We tried our very best back in January to get the Council to reconsider their decision and despite all the letters from residents and the efforts of both local Councillors and Andy Slaughter MP the Council remained deaf to public opinion. We would now like to take legal action and instruct Robert Griffiths QC to act on our behalf. If you would like to see your markets return we would be really grateful for any donations you feel able to give.
Thank you to our traders for being a great team and a big thank you to our lovely customers for all your support ..... we really hope to be back soon.
