Story

RNJ - The Gift of Golf Foundation has been set up by Sue, Rickis mother, to follow on Rickis love of seeing children have fun.

Ricki Neil-Jones sadly died on October 20th 2018 after a fight against Pancreatic and Liver cancer. Ricki was a professional golfer who lived his dream, he played in many countries around the world before turning to teaching in Dubai as a Golf Professional Association qualified instructor.

Ricki was fortunate to have the opportunity to teach many young people and pass on his love of the game of golf, one child resonates in his mother’s mind. A young girl who attended many group sessions with Ricki was not that interested in learning to hit golf balls, she chose to hold a golf ball in one hand while searching for worms around the practice area. She would then very gently try to persuade the worm to go back into its hole. Ricki found this hilarious and often recited the story to friends.

RNJ – The Gift Of Golf Foundation constitution support by the RNJ - Gift of Golf Day aims to give vulnerable children a day being a child again and mixing with other vulnerable children. Through local schools, the children are transported to the venue where professional golfers will give them instruction in golf. Whilst the foundation is centred around golf the children have the choice to participate or not, there will be other fun things available to enjoy or for them to just relax and chat.

These children have many life struggles which prematurely takes away their childhood, we hope to give a little of that back. All money raised will be donated to the foundation and used to give vulnerable/disadvantaged children a rare day of respite with a day of golf and fun activities.
