Story
Fortunately and unfortunately on the 8th of February this year my youngest daughter Amy who is 14 years of age was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer "Ewing's Sarcoma" . Basically a cancerous tumour that had initially grown inside Amy's 5th rib before fracturing the rib and growing towards her right lung. This illness had gone undetected despite numerous visits to Amy's GP from way back in July 17 when initially Amy had complained about a severe back pain. Through lots of different medical examinations, tests and scans the growth of the tumour at the time of the diagnosis identified that the tumour had grown towards the right lung and was pressing on the outer wall which in turn had caused a cancerous fluid to form in the pleura around her lung. Treatment since diagnosis has included a harsh course of chemotherapy, heart drugs to reduce the damage to her heart and luckily for Amy and us, Amy has now been given the opportunity to travel to the USA for proton beam therapy with the hope that the proton therapy will destroy the cancerous cells. Amy will be in the USA for a total of 10 weeks whilst she undergoes proton beam therapy.
