Story

Sadly, in May 2021 we lost a good friend in Rebelo Costa, Rebelo was well known in the Daventry area and had taken his part in many charity football matches. In August 2021 we held a charity football match in Rebelo honour with all money going to diabetes uk, this year we wanted to continue that trend and will do a rematch on July 30th at Daventry town stadium.

Rebelo liked to give back and all money raised off this will go towards 3 wonderful causes, the sands charity, Sands works to support anyone affected by the death of a baby; improve the care bereaved parents receive; and create a world where fewer babies die, as well as raising money for Daventry town football club to build new Astro turfs for future generations to enjoy playing sport in a safe environment.

The 3rd and final cause is to raise for the Leicester royal infirmary, The Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) is a National Health Service hospital in Leicester, England. It is located to the south-west of the city centre. It has an accident and emergency department and is managed by of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

The two teams taking part is a repeat of last year’s match with one team ran by Rob Faulkner called Ruby United whilst, Kane Thomasson is running a team called Abingdon X1, coming from Oxfordshire.
