    Story

Myself and David will be running 10km everyday for the whole month of June. That's 300km or 186 miles in 30 days, each. We want to put smiles back on the faces of children that are born and left with an un-repaired cleft condition, every £150 we raise is another smile.

For all too many children in countless developing countries, this is a reality. Children and adults with an un-repaired cleft condition live with unimaginable emotional and physical suffering; yet a surgery can take as few as 45 minutes to complete. Operation Smile works to ensure that no child suffers from a lack of access to safe surgery - since 1982 they have provided over 240,000 free surgeries to those born with a cleft lip or cleft palate and each year we treat over 16,000 people. With more than three decades of expertise, Operation Smile creates solutions that deliver free surgery to people where it’s needed most. As one of the largest medical volunteer-based non-profits, Operation Smile has mobilised thousands of medical volunteers and engaged public-private partnerships, such as Johnson and Johnson, to advance health care delivery, train local medical professionals, donate crucial medical equipment and supplies, and increase access to surgical care so that everyone living with cleft is treated. But there is still so much to do...
