An Aspiring Medical Doctor's Experience in a developing country.

I propose to visit India in the month of August and I will derive immense satisfaction from my voluntary work with the Rural and Urban communities in Southern India.

The History and the Charitable Ethos of Christ's Hospital School has firmed in my desire to take on this journey to India where I hope to be in the privileged position of directly improving the lives of people from all ages and the different socio-economic backgrounds in the state of Tamil Nadu (TN) in the South of India. The main areas I intend to focus my energies toward are in the field of Healthcare and Education- which are mostly privatised services in India.

My Grandfather is based in Chennai, the largest city in TN, South India. We speak on FaceTime regularly and he tells me about the challenges people face where he lives. This part of the country is prone to Natural Disasters including Floods, Tsunamis and Tornados as well as Drought when Monsoon rains fail, thus people's lives are majorly affected.

My heart bleeds for these vulnerable and disadvantaged peoples who face these setbacks.

Being hands on in the developing world is an experience I will find to be highly rewarding.

In order to make this trip more meaningful, my grandfather is arranging for me to be placed in places such as Orphanages, Care Homes and Rural Medical Centres where I can directly impact these people's lives during my time in India.

In the newly built school, I wish to distribute much needed resources such as Paper, Pencils and Textbooks. I wish to donate a Water Filtration system for the school so the children will have clean, cold drinking water.

This will mean that this influence of the good work will go on even after I return back to England.
