East African Young professionals is a non-profit social enterprise which aims to create economic opportunities for every member of the E. African workforce. As the Chairperson and Founder of the East African Young Professionals, I am fundraising to support our activities by taking the challenge for cycliing1000km and running a half marathon. What is the problem?

Youth unemployment in East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania) is currently 84%, sadly this not due to lack of jobs or lack of skilled individuals. Can you imagine having to spend money just to get a minimum wage job? Young professionals have to bid for employment and one who pay the highest to the middle man is refereed as candidate for the job. Many young people have to sale their bodies others are being shipped to the Arab countries as maids and sex workers.

Today, more than 50 million youth live in poverty in East Africa and they are unlikely to achieve the same success in getting jobs in comparison to their wealthier peers. How much you achieve in life should not be determined by how much your parents earn or how politically connected your family is. This inspired to develop a public jobcentre hub that link unemployed youth to potential employers and harness their skills.

What we would like to do to solve this ?

As our primary project, we are working on developing an online and offline platform, called "world of professionals" which aims to give youth of East Africa chance to easily connect to potential employers and find the jobs that they deserve. our platform will be launched on www.worldofprofessionals.org

our online platform will be a public databank of young professionals of East Africa, and employers will be able to reach those young professionals without a middle man. Equally, the young professionals will be able to check the job posts and apply to them and be considered without having to compete by paying fees to a middle man. Physical locations are important as many unemployed youth don't have access to internet, and internet cafes are mostly unaffordable . Therefore, we plan to have physical locations with computers / internet facilities across the region and advisory service on how to best use the platform. we would also appreciate your donations of old computers you may have.

we believe this project will significantly help solve the unemployment crisis in the region. We also plan to organise networking events bringing young professionals and companies (possible employers) together. Further more, we will be an advocate for teaching methods that promote innovations and skills. We aim to work with different teaching institutions to put an emphasis on this subject.

5. Stop ‘sex slavery’ among youth for employment.
