On the 19th April 2026 I'll be running the Manchester Marathon to raise funds for TLC. Please read the information below for more background on this great cause:

In 2001 Teddies for Loving Care was piloted in the Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire by the late WBro John Stokes in association with Hinchingbrooke Hospital at Huntingdon. In this first year over 7,500 teddies were distributed there to traumatised children.

The scheme was so successful that in early 2004 it was expanded to include all hospitals in the Province. These teddies have over the years been found across the Province in numerous Children’s Wards and departments; and in Accident and Emergency Units.

As of October 2025, TLC Northants & Hunts has distributed in excess of 174,000 teddies since the start of the initiative.

Currently, around 10,000 teddies are distributed per annum in the Province at a cost of around £25,000.

Without exception, feedback indicates that the gift of one small teddy brings much comfort to a distressed child.
