    Story

Morayvia has a growing collection of exhibits including many aircraft, aviation artefacts and even an inflateable Planetarium all of which means our footfall is increasing yearly since opening to the public in December 2015. Last year we attracted over 6000 visitors from April to October many of whom are elderly but Cardiac Arrest can strike any age and at any time and a Defibrillator could save a life. Morayvia is situated 12 miles from the nearest A&E hospital at Elgin so the efficient use of a defib could save valuable minutes whilst an ambulance is summoned and professional medical aid arrives. There is funding available for a public defib but it would have to be accessible and unlocked which is impractical and open to abuse as Morayvia is fairly isolated and, although we have security cameras and lighting, there is no gate at the entrance. Situated in the building it would be freely available to our trained first aiders and visitors but does mean it has to be purchased.

Defib purchased but, unfortunately, fitted at Morayvia just before the lock down, it will be there when we reopen. In the meantime keep safe and healthy.

A huge thank you to all our supporters for helping to raise funds to buy a defibrillator for Morayvia. Let's hope it never has to be used in anger but, if needed, it could save a life. Thanks again and please keep safe and healthy in these uncertain and difficult times.

Target reached and much more. Huge thanks to all who donated £1270 through Just Giving to which I can add another £485 from other sources so Morayvia will be able to purchase a recommended Defibrillator and possible a training defib as well which would ensure confidence in use.

Brilliant idea bob. For a place that takes emergency crews a while to get to the unit will be very useful.
