Story

I'm raising £5,000 for the maintenance of Whitby's 38 publicly available defibrillators.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are the Whitby Defibrillator Project, a group of people and charities who came together to provide the town of Whitby with what originally was thought to be 10, 24/7 publicly available defibrillators. Within a couple of years, due to the generosity of Whitby residents and businesses we managed to install 38 defibrillators in Whitby and the surrounding area.

We are a committed bunch, and are endeavouring to make every effort to maintain all the defibrillator. Each requiring a replacement battery every 4 years, sooner if used in a emergency, at a cost of approx. £165 each. In addition to this we maintain the cabinets, medical kits etc.

So to this end we are extremely grateful to anyone who makes any donation, small or large that helps us to continue this lifesaving work.

This equipment was born out of peoples generosity and we are committed to keeping it in good working order as non of us know when we might need it to save the life of a family member, friend or indeed any member of the general public. Or for them to run and get a defibrillator for us. It might be said that Whitby is a very good place to be if you were unfortunate enough to have a heart attack as you're never far from a defibrillator.

Donating through JustGiving s simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, I will withdraw funds directly. It's the most efficient way to donate and saves time and costs.
