The Da Vinci robot is an important piece of equipment for treating prostate cancer. Through the use of a console, the surgeon is able to perform extremely delicate procedures with great accuracy and with minimal impact on the patient. Each console costs £2200, and the Eastbourne Hospital is hoping to raise sufficient money to purchase five of these (£11000). This will enable other surgeons to perfect their ability to perform procedures in prostate cancer treatments.

Although not affiliated to the hospital in any way, the Eastbourne-based band Southern Spirit have committed to helping to fund-raise for this cause. Our rock and blues music covers groups from the '60s through to the '80s, such as The Small Faces, Stones, Beatles and The Shadows . We are performing a charity concert in the Under Ground Theatre on Saturday 2nd September at 7.30pm as a main fund raiser. Tickets will be available from the theatre, from the tourist office and from www.onlineticketseller.com, among other outlets.
