I'm raising £1500 to Help the Rocks N’ Groynes Sea Shanty Group Keep Raising Money for Charity

Organised by The Rocks N' Groynes

Story

The Rocks N’ Groynes Sea Shanty Group are an a-cappella sea shanty group from Lee-on-the-Solent who have spent the last four years entertaining communities across Hampshire while raising money for Children with Cancer UK.

Since forming in 2022, the group has performed at care homes, schools, community events, sheltered housing complexes, pubs, festivals, and even Royal Navy establishments, regularly performing 50–60 gigs every year.

Every penny raised goes to charity. The group members personally cover their own expenses and have already raised more than £20,000 for Children with Cancer UK, alongside supporting a number of local good causes.

The group is made up of men aged from their early 60s to mid-80s and has become far more than just a singing group. Weekly rehearsals provide friendship, companionship, and support for all involved.

As the group’s popularity has grown, they are increasingly being invited to perform at larger events and venues. Unfortunately, they currently rely on borrowed PA equipment which is often unsuitable for bigger performances or outdoor events. This means the group is now having to turn down opportunities that could raise even more money for charity.

We are therefore raising funds to purchase a lightweight, portable PA system complete with microphones, stands, leads, and battery capability for outdoor performances. Having the right equipment would allow the group to reach larger audiences, accept more bookings, and continue raising vital funds for charity.

Our target is £1,500.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help the Rocks N’ Groynes Sea Shanty Group continue bringing music, laughter, and community spirit to audiences across the region while supporting Children with Cancer UK.

Thank you for your support.
