Story

Over & above the fundraising we already do for charities, at our last meeting we discussed the possibility to help one of our own. Andy Wilson's great nephew, Rogan, has been poorly since birth & we would like to help with a safe environment and space for him in his back garden to play and grow in. Rogan can't play in or touch grass so the aim is to have the garden decked and with a fence & play area.

Rogan as born on the 13.02.15 in Ninewells hospital & was in hospital for 10 months, with lots tests and a few operations. When Rogan was 6 weeks old the brave decision was made for him to have a tracheostomy; Rogan is ventilated when he sleeps & he sometimes for forgets to breath for himself & needs suction to clear his airways.

Rogan is fed through a mic-key button in his tummy as I cannot take anything in my mouth. He was also born with a clubbed foot and was in casts for 6 weeks but now you would never know it.

The doctors think he may have Moebius syndrome which effects the nerves in his face meaning he cannot show any face expressions i.e. Smiling, laughing. He cannot move my eyes from side to side meaning he has to move my whole head to see side ways. His muscles were also very weak when he was first born and they said he would not have "normal" movements but he is currently proving them all wrong! He can move his arms and legs and he is learning to stand and even walk!

As he is ventilated while sleeping he has a carer who comes in every night to look after him.

He goes to nursery 5 afternoons a week and plays with friends, he also has swimming lessons and has a music group once a week.

Rogan has already faced many challenges & he deserves somewhere to play & grow.
