I've raised £1200 to Help the Centre for Extremely Deprived Children (CEDC) at the Laikipia Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Nanyuki, Kenya & the BATUK Trust.

A small group of us who work with the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) are doing a 3 day multifaceted physical challenge with the aim of raising at least £1200. All proceeds will be split between two amazing causes within Nanyuki, Kenya, where we live.
Some of the funds raised will go to the Centre for Extremely Deprived Children (CEDC) at the Laikipia Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Nanyuki, Kenya. The CEDC houses 60+ children, all of whom have lived through what can only be described as hell and all are without parents or carers. Every child there has experienced hardship beyond comprehension and without CEDC, would be homeless or worse. Donations raised will go towards building a new abolitions block for the girls to give them their own privacy. Currently 60+ children share just 4 poorly maintained toilets and showers which is nowhere near enough.
All remaiming proceeds raised will go to the BATUK Trust. Its mission is to seek to improve the lives of those living in the communities in and around where BATUK operates.
The challenge
As Nanyuki is directly on the equator, it sees exactly 12 hours of sunlight every day so fittingly, 12 is the theme for this challenge.
Day 1 – Wed 9 Jan 19
Adventurous
To summit Point Lenana on Mount Kenya and back down. The snow-capped Point Lenana sits at 4985m (16,335ft) above sea level and is one of the highest peaks in Africa. The total elevation gained will be over 2000m and total distance covered will be in excess of 34Km, all within 12 daylight hours.
Day 2 – Thu 10 Jan 19
Sporting
For 12 hours, we’ll complete a 1200m swim followed by 12 holes of golf… Again, and again, and again until the 12 hours are up and the sun goes down.
Day 3 – Fri 11 Jan 19
Physical
Every 12th minute – for 12 hours, we'll all complete the following:
1200m cycle
12 press ups
12 abdominal crunches
12 burpees
12 box jumps
12 med ball slams
At 2000m (7000ft) altitude, sometimes even walking upstairs can leave you breathless!
