Story

This is me (on the right) and my dear friend Rogers (on the left).

We first met when I spent 6 weeks volunteering in a village in the Manafwa district of eastern Uganda, one of the poorest areas of the country.

A group of us lived with Rogers for our entire stay and I can honestly say he is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He helped us with everything from boiling water before sunrise so that we could have the luxury of a hot shower to guiding us around the extremely remote areas surrounding the village. He also did me a small favour of nursing me back to strength when I was hospitalised with malaria and the nurses went home for the night!

Besides Rogers' amazing generosity and dazzling smile, he is an exceptionally hardworking and intelligent person. After I left Uganda, Rogers enrolled at Kampala International University to study Medicine and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor and ultimately helping his community. However, now in his second year of university, he can no longer afford the fees, having sold everything he has of value, exhausted the little support his family can offer and foregone meals.

Any donation towards helping him complete the last 3 years of his degree would be truly life changing.

He would be one of the first people from his district to complete a university degree, giving hope to many children from his community who have similar dreams. Moreover, Rog would become only the second qualified doctor in Manafwa, allowing him to serve his community and treat many of the preventable deaths people often unnecessarily die from.

Please, please, please donate to help pay some of Rogers' termly 1,000,000 shilling (roughly £500) fee of which he must make 3 for the next 3 years to achieve his dream and the aspirations of an entire community.

Together we can do something amazing for someone who deserves the same chance many of us have enjoyed.
