    Story

As of August 25, 2017 over 600,000 Rohingya refugees have fled persecution and torture in the Rakhine State of Burma, crossing into Bangladesh. Since this time, an average of 10,333 people are entering Bangladesh everyday. Further data shedding light on the scale of the crisis, gathered by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) can be found here.

This acute influx of refugees has left local authorities and humanitarian organizations scrambling to provide shelter, clean water, food and healthcare. Local resources are insufficient to fulfill acute and long term needs of the refugees and appeals for aid have been announced by governments, the UN's International Organization of Migration and numerous non-governmental agencies (NGO's).

Human Aid UK is one of these NGO's been actively engaged on the ground in helping the Rohingya refugees as they flee their homes in search of safety and security. They have been working in Rohingya refugee camps since 2012 and continue to provide much needed support during this crisis through different projects.

One of these projects is to establish the Rohingya Well-Being Centre. It will provide the refugees with acute medical services as well as long term treatment necessary for complete rehabilitation and reintegration into normality and self sustainability. The center will include bedded medical rooms, an outpatient department, an operation theatre, a diagnostics laboratory, a paediatrics unit, a Psychosocial Support Centre and a Vocational Skills Training Centre. Please learn more of this Well-Being Centre on the Human Aid UK webpage

A total of 1 million pounds is needed to purchase the land and construct, equip and staff the Well-Being Centre. We have pledged to raise 5000 pounds of this amount and with your support, hope to meet this target.

We may never fully appreciate and comprehend the horrors and tragedies that the Rohingya refugees have lived through. And they may never fully recover or replace what they have lost. But with the the help of the Rohingya Well Being Centre, we hope that they are provided with the physical, mental and emotional support to rebuild their lives. Your donation will contribute significantly to this enormous task assisting the Rohingya refugees onto the path of sustainable recovery. So thank you for your consideration and support.
